Vina Carta Vieja

Héctor Saldivia obtained his Agronomy degree at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and later specialized in Oenology. In 1995 he became a member of the Asociación de Ingenieros Agrónomos Enólogos de Chile (Agronomist Oenologist Engineers Association of Chile). His professional career began in the viticulture field developing important projects for emerging wine industry sectors. He later became the wine cellar manager for a boutique vineyard. His ability to ensemble solid work teams in conjunction with his on site and winery know-how paved the way for Viña Carta Vieja S.A. to call him in 2005 with the offer to lead the vineyard’s technical team – a group made up of the oenology, agriculture and external producers areas – in order to reach the goal of producing quality wines that satisfy our customers requirements. Wines produced under his responsibility have a style distinguished by his travel abroad, and are marked by modernity, elegance and optimum concentration. Aromas and other specific characteristics of the varied vine stock available in the Valle de Loncomilla have been greatly improved during his leadership. The perseverant and rigorous work entailed in every wine bottle produced has obtained wide international recognition, great commercial success and has given rise to a new perception regarding the Valle de Loncomilla. Since his arrival, Héctor and his team have achieved several goals in the grape-producing and oenological areas. Their achievements range from obtaining over a thousand planted hectares and developing new wine production lines, to the introduction of new wine making techniques while consolidating the existing techniques.
