Stella Bella Wines

One of the most remote wine growing regions in the world. Unique maritime influence of the Indian Ocean provides ideal conditions to create consistent benchmark wines of outstanding quality. Summertime southerly winds and the cooling influence of the Leeuwin current. Soils formed in situ, weathered from an ancient land mass 2000 million years old. Decomposed granite, forming undulating well-drained ironstone gravel soils with underlying clay - excellent vine growing soil. Most vineyards are within 3 – 7km of the coast at elevations of between 150 and 200 metres. The wine growing potential of the region was first identified by agricultural scientist Dr John Gladstone in the mid 1960’s
