Goats do Roam is a South African wine company, based in the Paarl region of the Cape winelands. Founded in 1999 by Fairview owner Charles Back, the company's wines continue to be produced at the Fairview cellar, under the guidance of Back's experienced team. The winemaking focus is on blended styles, incorporating grapes from vineyards in a number of winemaking regions. Initially inspired by the roaming Saanen goats on the Fairview farm, the Goats do Roam winemakers draw inspiration from various regions while still aiming to express a truly South African wine style. The range of wines has been widely acclaimed for its excellent value and consistent quality as well as the brands innovative, quirky approach to the market. After enjoying early success in the US market, the wines of the Goats do Roam Wine Company are now available in many parts of the world. The goats do roam! Following the careful selection of fine fruit from the top vineyards in the area, the grapes used in our Goats do Roam wines are transported to the Fairview cellar in Paarl, where the wines are produced and bottled. We harvest from the last week in January through to late March. During this period our modern, well-equipped Winery processes over 1500 tons of grapes. Modern wine making techniques coupled to traditional care enable us to depict both the varietal character and terroir of our vines.
