Domaine PARENT based in Pommard (Burgundy, France) was founded in 1803. Today it is headed by two sisters, Anne & Catherine Parent, who continue the family tradition of winegrowers that originate from the 17th century. The Domaine consists of 10 hectares that produce mostly red wines from the Côte de Beaune. The real speciality is the wines produced from Pommard, however wines from the appellations of Corton, Ladoix, Beaune, Monthelie and Volnay are also produced. The vines grow on clay-limestone soils, coloured red by iron oxide. These soils enable the Pinot Noir (and Chardonnay) grape variety to express its characteristics perfectly. The vineyards are all treated organically, and the harvest is done by hand. After rigorous sorting, the grape bunches are de-stemmed, and whole-berry temperature-controlled fermentation follows (12-20 days). The wines are aged for 16-18 months with 30-60% new French oak. The Domaine sells the majority of its wines to export markets. Anne PARENT, the winemaker is heavily involved in the region, well qualified and respected. She is currently head of communications for the Burgundy Wine Council (BIVB). Also, 8 years ago, she established an association called Femmes et Vins de Bourgogne, which is a group of female winemakers and viticulturists from the region. Catherine looks after the French, various export markets ( Russia, Canada,…), the communication and the administration. Domaine PARENT’s philosophy is to make wines with purity, complexity, elegance and power. Their exceptional quality is the result of the rigorous efforts made by the Parent family. A range of approximately 15 wines ensures that Domaine PARENT maintains its name and reputation with Burgundy enthusiasts throughout the world.
