There was nothing to suggest either that our family, who were originally from Belgium, would one day become gentlemen farmers or that I myself would one day give up my microscope (I was a specialist doctor) and allow myself to fall in love with winegrowing. As you come to the end of the “Chemin de Bocq”, a path running through the hamlet of Marbuzet, you get a first glimpse of the vines. There are barely twelve thousand feet, almost exclusively “Merlot Noir” with the roots thriving on the clayey land whilst the leaves are lulled by a gentle breeze cooled by the nearby river.
