Due to a geographic gift, the Monte Alto estate, is settled over two of the country towns with the greatest repercussion of " D.O. Ribera Del Duero": Valbuena de Duero and Pesquera de Duero. In the same place, and sharing place with both territories, the winery is risen and the Montebaco vineyards are spread out. The Monte Alto estate is one of the most representative wine farms in the province of Valladolid. An extensive agriculture and an important livestock, were the main farm business until the mid-eighties, moment in which , the manufacturer from Valladolid Manuel Esteban along with his family , foresaw a successful country vine growing. After some attemps, 20 hectares of Tinto Fino were planted in 1987. Nowadays, the present Montebaco enterprise, has 50 hectares. Since the year 2005 the Montebaco project is extended to Rueda D.O. The family adquires a small country plantation of Verdejo variety in order to produce the first 100% Montebaco Verdejo in the year 2006. Nowadays from 25,000 to 30,000 grape kilos are wined.
