Established in 1980 as one of the pioneering wineries of Washington State, Blackwood Canyon Vintners is one of the first established wineries on Red Mountain, Washington's premier American Viticultural Area. Since its inception, acclaimed winemaker M. Taylor Moore, a graduate of U.C. Davis's famed oenology program, has insisted on only the highest quality wines, reminiscent of the great Burgundian wines of 50-150 years ago. The winemaking process includes traditional winemaking techniques such as sur lies aging that are nearly lost to history due to the fact that these processes take longer to employ than most modern wineries are willing to endure. The result is a product uncompromised by impatience, and unmatched in quality, cellar-worthy wines that will age a century, but will also complement the food on many of the finest restaurant tables of today.
