The birth of the Domaine Albert Mann is the fruit of the joint efforts of two big viticultural families, Mann and Barthelmé. The Mann's have been winegrowers since the beginning of the 17th century, and Barthelmé since 1654. Today the brothers, Maurice and Jacky Barthelmé, assisted by their wives, Marie-Claire and Marie-Thérèse, manage the family estate. The Domaine Albert Mann is located in Wettolsheim, a small village in the south of Alsace, 1.3 miles away from Colmar. The vineyards cover an area of 47 acres spread on 8 communes. The domaine practices organic viticulture. The grapes are hand harvested, and then slowly extracted to get clear juice that doesn't need any supply of oenological products, with the exception of a small quantity of sulfur. After a fermentation of several months, the wines stay in contact with their lees that nourish them and that, at the same time, stabilize them naturally. The wines are bottled at waning moon in order to preserve the fruit. Distribution of the grape varieties • Pinot Blanc Auxerrois 25 % • Riesling 26 % • Pinot Gris 16 % • Gewurztraminer 18 % • Pinot Noir 12 % • Muscat 3 %
