Akarua's Central Otago estate vineyard and winery was established in 1996 by Sir Clifford Skeggs and is a renown New Zealand producer of pinot noir, chardonnay and pinot gris. Akarua vineyard successes include Wine of the Show at the Air New Zealand Wine Awards for the Akarua Pinot Noir 2002. Akarua Winery has rapidly developed a world-wide reputation for producing quality wines. Located in Central Otago, the world's southernmost winemaking region, Akarua was established in 1996 by long-time Otago icon Sir Clifford Skeggs and first vintage happened three years later. The region is mountainous, rising to over 2,000 metres and the vines are planted amidst spectacular alpine scenery. The Akarua team’s vision is clear: to reveal the special and unique characters of our terroir, united with the qualities of each vintage so that they are truly reflected in every bottle that you experience.
