- 2004 Domaine Richeaume, Cuvée Tradition
Impeccably organic, an impressive alliance of lush, cassis-rich Cabernet and gamey, generous Syrah. Domaine Richeaume lies at the foot of Provence's Sainte-Victoire mountain. The winery itself was built on the vestiges of a Roman Villa by organic vigneron Henning Hoesch. All viticulture at the estate is biodynamic, to the extent that a flock of sheep has been installed to provide fertiliser. Henning produces powerful wines, deserving, as he says, "5 to 6 years of patience".

Thanks to the efforts of winemaker Kate Radburnd, the winery has reeled in scores of awards, including a Wine Challenge trophy. Their minerally, elegant Sauvignon has currant-leaf aromas and vibrant lime-zesty flavour with hints of tropical fruit richness.

- Brunello di Montalcino 2003 Il Poggione (75cl)
Brunello di Montalcino Il Poggione is the result of a careful selection of Sangiovese grapes, grown and harvested by hand in the winery's best vineyards which are over twenty years old. After three years aging in French Allier oak barrels, where the wine matures and develops, it completes its development for about 12 months in the bottles. A ruby red wine with garnet hues and a very intense, lingering and stylish bouquet with small dark berry fruit notes. The palate is dry, warm, smooth and tannic with an incredibly long-lasting finish.
