One leaves the airport taking the road from the car park out to joining the main road, then it is straight on at the first roundabout then at the second roundabout it is marked to Valletta turn left, straight on, then right, be careful at this roundabout as other car drivers are to confident and just join. You carry on down the road for 12 mile and turn left to Valletta. At the bottom of the hill you turn left and follow the Marsa ring road (for approx 1 mile) after the roundabout at Marsa where you turn left as does 98% of the traffic approx 200 yds there is a slip road to the left going to Sliema, Rabat and other places, join this road, again at the top of the slip road you join another main road, be careful. Keep on this road going straight through a tunnel, then under an under pass follow the sweeping road, then around the roundabout, flashing ambers only (another fast roundabout) up and over the hill through another tunnel, be careful as you come out from the tunnel there is a SPEED camera 45 kms. up the hill straight on over the traffic lights at St. Julians, along the main road up and over the hill, half way down the hill outside of the built up area is another SPEED camera 70 kms keep straight on along this coast road road for the next 6 miles or so then follow the signs. The road from St. Julians goes to St. Pauls Bay - Xemxija - Mellieha - Ghadira - Cirkewwa which is where we are located alongside the ferry terminal to go to Gozo. The journey should take about 1 hour or so. There is another SPEED camera 45 kms going up the hill at Xemxija. The speed cameras are not so bad really as the cameras are preceded with signage stating Speed Camera but we still get caught.

Gozo ferry trip Route Details

We passed the Grand Hotel (making a sneaky Wifi connection with my phone to check Google Maps for directions), and headed up the hill. There were lovely views across the harbour, to the church of Our Lady of Lourdes, and Fort Cambray. The town at the top was at first a little bit scruffy, but the beautifully restored stone houses further along rewarded the walk. ... General Information. Activity : sightseeing. Author : dylanhayes.
