The Hotel Accademia is located in an old building dating back to the 14th century, once the home of Bernardo Cennini, a famous goldsmith and sculptor who was born in Florence in 1415 and who worked on the creation of the wonderful Saint Johns Baptistry.Cennini was one of the artists who worked on the huge Baptistrys door and on the Altar, a splendid work of art made entirely from silver (400 kilos) in Gothic-Renaissance style.Some of the items that Cennini created are now on shown in the Duomos Museo dellOpera.Situated in the ancient historical center of Florence, the Accademia Hotel is located opposite the Medicean Chapels, 5 minutes walk from S. M. Novella central rail station, the Congress Center and the most important museums and monuments of the city. The rooms are all equipped with private facilities, direct dial telephone, satellite TV, air conditioning, safe-box and hairdryer. Recently restructured our hotel offers its guests bar service, reading room and an ample picturesque breakfast hall. Parking in fixed price garages. Internet Point inside.

How to get here!By car:Take the first exit for Florence off the motorway.Follow directions for the Center (Centro - Stazione).Go round the roundabout at Piazza Stazione fand turn into Piazza dellUnit. Turn into Via del Melarancio and go right to the end.Turn left into Via Faenza. You will find the hotel at number 7.You can park your car in Via Faenza, in a garage that has an agreement with the hotel. It is just 20 meters from the hotel.By train:Take the left exit from Santa Maria Novella Station (near to the pharmacy) and then turn right. Carry straight on for about 50 meters until you reach Largo Alinari. Turn left and carry on for a few meters. The dirst road on the right is Via Faenza.By plane:You can get to the Hotel Accademia from Florences Amerigo Vespucci Airport by taking a taxi.Alternatively, you can use the Airport Shuttle bus that links the airport to Santa Maria Novella Station.Take the left exit out of the station (near the pharmacy) and then turn right. Carry straight on for about 50 meters until you reach Largo Alinari. Turn left and carry on for a few meters. The first road on the right is Via Faenza.

I'm in Italy now!! I left after school on Friday. It was a crappy day with a more crappy observation, but I'm not thinking about that while on vacation!!
